As a 7-year old, Carrie’s father gave her a journal where he taught her to track her income, expenses, and cash balance. From those humble beginnings of tracking babysitting money and sticker purchases, a love of accounting was born. After taking a high-school accounting class, she never looked back, graduating with her Masters in Accountancy in 1996 and receiving her CPA License in 1997. Carrie began her career with HintonBurdick in December of 1995 and has enjoyed serving the local small business and nonprofit community in areas of audit, accounting, and tax ever since. Her favorite part of the work is making a positive difference in the lives of the clients she advises and assisting her clients in easing administrative burdens, making wise financial decisions, and developing financial security. Currently, she is also serving as the Firm’s Controller, in which she has enjoyed gaining a deeper knowledge of the day-to-day workings of operating a business and meeting the specific needs of small business owners.
A few of the opportunities Carrie has had to serve in the community include serving as treasurer for the Washington City Historical Society, serving in various capacities on the Washington Elementary PTA, serving as Chair of the Pine View Middle and Washington Elementary School Community Councils, and serving as a member of the DSU Accounting Advisory Board. Her favorite place to be is with her husband, three children, and extended family, enjoying the outdoors and the amazing beauty of the world. She is grateful for her rich heritage of ancestors who knew how to sacrifice to achieve long-term goals, work hard to provide for their families, to live honorably, and to love and serve others. Believing in collaboration and cooperation, she tries to remember what Russell M Nelson taught, that “the joy we feel has little to do with the circumstances of our lives and everything to do with the focus of our lives.”
